17thUS-China Carbon Consortium (USCCC)Annual Meeting

Flux Observations, Analyses, and Simulations in Complex Footprint Surfaces

(Second announcement)

Background and Aim

US-China Carbon Consortium (USCCC,http://lees.geo.msu.edu/usccc.html) is a multidisciplinary, grassroot organization promoting frontier studies on carbon, water, energy and other biogeochemical cycles in terrestrial ecosystems. The consortium has two dozens of institution members and ~100 eddy-covariance flux towers from the US and China since 2003. The 17thannual symposium will be hosted by the Southwest University, Chongqing, China with focuses on the importance of complex footprints of flux measurements, including complex terrains, heterogeneous vegetations and soils (i.e., land cover, surface properties), other fluxes and pathways (e.g., through surface and ground water movement), and human influences. This continued annual symposium provides a platform for updating the development in the field and future international collaborations. Thematic topics relevant to carbon, energy and water fluxes, and ecosystem services under rapid changing global climate and human influences will be discussed. The organization committee welcomes suggestions for meeting themes, focal sessions, and training programs until April 15, 2021.
